A Decade of Local Trust & Partnership
Where it All Began
Our story started in 2007, when co-owners Tara Moore and Laurie Carter met while working as accountants for a local restaurant management company. They quickly connected over their shared love for the Carolina Gamecocks and discovered they made a pretty great team both inside and outside of the office.
Over the years, Laurie and Tara stayed close friends and continued building their careers in accounting and finance. Eventually, an idea that had been talked about for years became a reality: what if we started our own accounting firm?
With the collaboration of a third friend and fellow accountant, Nicole (shoutout to Nicole!), Moore Accounting Group was born in 2015.
It was only natural that our first client was a restaurant. We launched our accounting services business by providing the growing restaurant with comprehensive accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and financial management services, helping the new business establish strong financial systems and supporting its growth and expansion.
Since the beginning, Moore Accounting Group grew organically as a side business while Laurie and Tara continued their professional careers, gaining experience in a variety of different industries. What started as a small idea between friends became a stable, growing business built almost entirely through relationships, referrals, and a commitment to doing great work for our clients.

As our business continued to grow, we realized there was an opportunity to do something we were both passionate about: dedicate our time and talents to helping local businesses thrive.
So, we made the easy decision to go all in on Moore Accounting Group.
Today, we’re proud to serve the Summerville, Charleston, Bluffton, Savannah community full time, with a special focus on the businesses we know best — restaurants, bars, food trucks, cafés, caterers, and other food and beverage businesses. We understand that owning a restaurant or small business is about much more than the numbers. It’s early mornings, late nights, employees who become family, busy weekends, unexpected expenses, tight margins, big dreams, and constantly making decisions that affect your business and your livelihood.
